A Brief History of LCS

Levelland Christian School (LCS) began in 1993 with a vision:

"Do not remember the former things,

Nor consider the things of old.

Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth;

Shall you not know it?

I will even make a road in the wilderness

And rivers in the desert.

The beast of the field will honor Me,

The jackals and the ostriches,

Because I give waters in the wilderness

And rivers in the desert,

To give drink to My people, My chosen."

Isaiah 43:18-20

The current state of the government schools can truly be likened to a wilderness. Today many Christian schools have been started to be streams in that wilderness. LCS is no exception. Jill Roberts along with many faithful parents and teachers began the school in 1993 at First Presbyterian Church. Over the past 14 years the school has grown to include students through the 8th grade (with 9th - 12th grades planned to be added in sucessive years), many more faithful families and teachers, and a new building. The journey has been tough at times, as with all journeys, but we can see God's hand faithfully guiding and leading the school to the purpose for which he has planned. Mrs. Roberts, the staff, and parents continue to be obedient to God's commands to nurture covenant children and bring them up in that covenant. We seek to be a ministry to the entire church community in Levelland by helping parents disciple their children and helping the church make true worshippers.
